Survey Responses are Live: Major Wins for Safe Streets
Candidate Surveys
Big news! Our candidate questionnaire is officially complete, and the results show something incredible:
Safe streets are a central issue in this election!
We’re thrilled to report we received responses from over 20 candidates running for office in Jersey City this year. After reviewing their surveys, one thing is clear: Candidates are finally recognizing that Jersey City residents are demanding safer streets, better walking and biking infrastructure, and a future free from traffic violence.
Here’s what we learned from the responses:
- 100% of respondents are committed to Vision Zero, the policy to eliminate all traffic deaths and serious injuries.
- Candidates spoke with one voice in their opposition to widening the NJ Turnpike and all but one stated their support for automated speed enforcement.
- All respondents expressed support for expanded pedestrian plazas and a wide variety of safety improvements along our high-injury network.
We’re currently conducting interviews with the candidates who responded to the survey and plan to announce our endorsements in early October. You can view the full list of survey responses here).

“I’m committed to a Vision Zero approach – meaning we redesign dangerous streets and intersections, calm down speeding traffic, and hold drivers accountable so that traffic fatalities and serious injuries are eliminated.”
