StreetsPAC NJ Endorses Tom Zuppa and Joel Brooks in Jersey City Runoff Election, Urging Voters to Choose Champions for Vision Zero
StreetsPAC NJ, the political action committee dedicated to ending traffic violence and promoting active transportation in New Jersey, today announced its endorsement of Tom Zuppa for Ward C Council and Joel Brooks for Ward B Council in the Jersey City runoff election on Tuesday, December 2nd.
The PAC’s support signals a belief that these two candidates are the best choice to advance a Vision Zero agenda, making Jersey City’s streets safer, more equitable, and less dependent on cars.
Tom Zuppa (Ward C) is being endorsed for his clear commitment to delivering safer streets as a part of an overall quality of life agenda. Tom has pledged to see a protected bike lane implemented on the critical Summit and Baldwin Avenue corridors and to spearhead safety redesigns on dangerous thoroughfares around Journal Square including Pavonia Avenue and Central Avenue. His platform explicitly commits to a city-wide Vision Zero strategy.
Joel Brooks (Ward B) is running on a platform to build a “Ward B for All” and knows the swift execution of the City and County Vision Zero Plans is critical to achieving that goal. Brooks stated, “As the father of a young daughter, we need Vision Zero implemented across Jersey City, better transit including bus rapid transit in Ward B, and to prioritize the safety of all users of the street with sustained infrastructure investments.” He supports implementing dedicated bus lanes on JFK and Bergen Avenue and making important safe streets improvements around the West Side light rail station.
StreetsPAC NJ encourages Jersey City residents to vote for Zuppa, Brooks, and all the StreetsPAC candidates in the runoff election on Tuesday, December 2nd.
