1. What is your vision for safe streets in Jersey City and what will you do to achieve it?

3. In Jersey City currently, the Department of Infrastructure budget is $3 million. Would you increase or decrease this budget and why?
4. In Jersey City currently, the Department of Public Safety budget is $214 million. Would you increase or decrease this budget and why? How would you ensure adequate traffic enforcement by our police department?
5. Do you support redesigning streets to include protected bike lanes, wider sidewalks, and safer crosswalks? If so, which streets or corridors would you prioritize first? Please name at least three in your ward / citywide?
6. Over $8.1 million in federal funds has been approved for safety improvements on Summit Avenue from Route 139 to Secaucus Road. Do you support the Baldwin and Summit one-way pairing to make room for protected bike lanes?
7. What strategies would you implement to protect pedestrian spaces and ensure people on e-bikes and other micro-mobility devices do not ride on sidewalks?
8. The Newark Avenue Pedestrian Plaza has become a vital hub for local businesses and a popular public space for residents, families, and visitors. Do you support the continued expansion and permanency of this plaza?
9. Beyond Newark Avenue, do you support the creation of new pedestrian-only spaces or the expansion of existing ones throughout the city? Please identify at least one specific area in Jersey City where you believe a new pedestrian plaza or shared street would be most beneficial and explain your rationale.

16. There is no such thing as free parking. Street parking disadvantages residents without access to a motor vehicle and increased congestion for those who do. Are you willing to reduce car parking to reallocate street space for other modes, such as pedestrians, bicyclists, and dedicated bus lanes? Have you advocated for these projects in the past? 17. Are you willing to continue Mayor Fulop’s commitment to Vision Zero? What would you do differently?
18. Over the past several years, our city has invested significant public funds and political capital in implementing active transportation infrastructure, such as protected bike lanes and enhanced crosswalks. These projects were installed to improve public safety, support local businesses, and move the city closer to its Vision Zero goals. What is your position on proposals to remove or alter previously installed safe streets infrastructure, and what specific criteria or data would you use to evaluate and decide on the permanence of these public assets?

28. Do you support removing mandatory parking requirements in new housing? How do you address the criticism that mandatory parking requirements raise the monthly rent of new housing by about $500 per unit of parking?
29. Do you support strengthening bicycle parking requirements in new housing, including parking for cargo bikes and ebikes, to enable more carfree households?
30. According to the American Community Survey, in 2023 41% of households in Jersey City were car free. Given the development that has already been approved for Jersey City, how will you address the transit needs of these new residents? If at the end of your term of office, if that number has not changed or gone down will you see that as a policy failure?
31. Do you support the expansion of the New Jersey Turnpike in Jersey City?
32. In New York City, 1,800 automated speed cameras reduced crashes by 14% and decreased speeding by 75%. Automated speed enforcement is currently banned at the statewide level in New Jersey. Do you support reversing this ban? Would you support installing automated enforcement mechanisms in Jersey City?
33. What levers of changing policy for improving street safety will you utilize if elected to your position, and how will you work with other levels of government, including county and state, to holistically improve the regional transit system?
