Kevin Bing (Executive Director)
Kevin Bing is a dedicated advocate for improved bike, pedestrian, and street safety in Jersey City, where he has lived his whole adult life. His commitment to creating safer communities began with a presentation on curb extensions to his local community association. Kevin is a firm believer that change is driven by action. He champions the use of action to achieve results and create ample learning opportunities, believing that things don't just happen—people make them happen. A third-generation owner of his family's machine shop in Essex County, Kevin brings a unique, hands-on perspective to his advocacy. Originally from Wayne, he now lives in Jersey City with his wife and son.
Ashley Swiggett (Treasurer)
Ashley was born and raised in New Jersey and has been a Jersey City resident since 2014. She lives in the Bergen Lafayette neighborhood, and works in financial services in Manhattan. Ashley is an active community lead for the Traffic Reform Warriors group and is an avid transit and bike-share user. Ashley is passionate about bringing safe streets and better transit to New Jersey to build safe, accessible and walkable communities. Outside of safe street advocacy, she is an avid baker and can be found around town enjoying time with her family.
Glenn Mcananama
Glenn has been active in livable streets advocacy for over 20 years starting in NYC during campaigns for congestion pricing, protected bike lanes, Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), and urban placemaking. One of Glenn’s earliest successes was to help lead the effort to site two local food Greenmarkets on the Upper East Side when he lived there. Glenn served on the board of directors for StreetsPAC in NYC before moving to NJ in 2022. Glenn has commuted to Jersey City for over 12 years and is a regular rider of NJT, PATH trains and the HBLR as well as a bike share enthusiast having ridden bike shares in over 20 cities across 3 continents. Glenn is the Father of two boys in Bergen County and a Leader in the local Scouting America troop.
Emmanuelle Morgen
Emmanuelle Morgen is a safe, equitable, and sustainable transportation advocate, and a literary agent. She came to Complete Streets and Vision Zero advocacy after a friend was severely injured in a hit-and-run within a mile of home in Hudson County. She has lived in several countries and states, bringing her experience of different transportation systems back to her work in New Jersey. She is a co-founder of Hudson County Complete Streets and a trustee of Bike JC.
Tyler Newcomb
Tyler is a former Emergency Medical Technician who sold his car in 2021 in search of cheaper and more enjoyable mobility by bike. After responding to a string of traffic fatalities in Jersey City in 2021, he realized that these crashes were needless and preventable, and became involved in safe streets advocacy. Tyler has spoken on the intersection of safe streets with emergency vehicle access, and is a strong advocate for complete streets infrastructure that prevents crashes and enables better mobility. Tyler is also the President of Bike JC, Jersey City's nonprofit bicycle advocacy group, and a former trustee of Safe Streets Jersey City. He now lives on the West Side of Jersey City, and spends his free time outside of advocacy earning a paycheck as a Technical Producer for video in live events and entertainment.
Ayla Schermer
Ayla is a proud Pittsburgh native turned proud Jersey City resident since 2012. Professionally, she is a passionate urban planner focused on improving urban mobility for all ages, abilities, and modes. She has never owned a car, and wants to keep it that way! Ayla is a Trustee and Former President of Bike JC, a nonprofit advocacy group working towards a more bike-friendly Jersey City. She is also on the board of Hudson County Complete Streets, which advocates for transportation equity across Hudson County, NJ. You can catch Ayla singing around Jersey City as an alto in North River Sing, The Prom Dates, and The HoliDates. She is also an avid Broadway theatergoer, a sports fanatic, and a travel lover who checks out the biking infrastructure everywhere she goes.
Ryan Williams
Ryan is a Hudson County-based advocate for improved transit, bike, and pedestrian infrastructure. He publishes data and dashboards about PATH, bike-share, and other transit ridership, state-wide crash statistics, and household vehicle ownership, and serves on the boards of Hudson County Complete Streets, Bike JC, and the Embankment Preservation Coalition. He enjoys taking people on e-bike test-rides, and helping increase the health and wealth of our communities by reducing car dependence.
George Zalepa
George Zalepa is a street safety advocate working to create safer, more walkable neighborhoods. Drawing from his background in law, engineering, and data analysis, George collaborates with community members and local government to implement traffic calming measures and pedestrian improvements. His advocacy is informed by both personal experience and a commitment to making streets safer for all users.
